This position provides operational, managerial and strategic leadership to the A/P Shared Services Group. The A/P Shared Services Group includes two supervisors, nine full time staff and seven temporary staff. The A/P Director ensures the A/P Shared Services operating system is working efficiently and effectively to support the payment processing needs of the organization. The A/P Director will also work across the organization to ensure the entire Purchases to Payables process is operating effectively. This role is also responsible for maintaining proper internal controls and ensuring the safeguarding of company assets in accordance with company policies. The A/P Director will strive for continuous improvement and will identify and implement productivity initiatives within the A/P Shared Services group.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Hire and retain top talent

  • Provide support, training, mentoring and development to reporting staff on an ongoing basis to ensure the department performs at maximum performance

  • Manage the day to day payment processing operation ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions, superior support is provided to internal and external stakeholders and company policies and procedures are properly executed

  • Establish and monitor A/P KPIs; KPIs relative to process control as well as performance management

  • Manage month end closing process achieving all month end close deadlines

  • Work with accounting to ensure the accounts payable and relative accrued liabilities are properly reflected in the financial statements

  • Support the internal and external audit processes while achieving audit deadlines

  • Manage and enhance the vendor maintenance process

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives

  • Partner with other finance leaders and operations management to drive business results and implement cross-functional strategies

  • Prepare 1099 reporting in compliance with IRS rules and regulations

  • Prepare department budgets for approval. Monitor spend to adhere to budget. Provide explanation of variances as necessary.

  • Perform spend analysis as required

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Position Qualifications:

  • Shared services experience in a complex, matrixed organization

  • At least five to seven years of relevant management experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required

  • Accounting skills including knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

  • Advanced MS Excel skills and high overall proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Lawson and / or INFOR experience preferred, but not required
