Responsible for maintaining all assigned INL vehicles and ground equipment. Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned tasks is mandatory. This position is located in Afghanistan and will be filled by a Third Country National.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors.
Diagnose the source of trouble and determine the extent of repairs, replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts.
Grind and adjust valves; rebuild carburetors; overhaul transmissions and repair fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
Perform routine maintenance on aviation ground support vehicles, equipment and parts, and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Position requires a U.S. Department of State Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT).
Perform other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED.
Have completed an apprenticeship and/or formal training as a Ground Vehicle Mechanic or Automotive Maintenance Technician.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Vehicle Mechanic.
Prior Department of State INL support experience
