SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining all assigned INL vehicles and ground equipments. Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned tasks is mandatory. This position is located in Afghanistan and will be filled by a Third Country National.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors.

  • Diagnose the source of trouble and determine the extent of repairs, replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts.

  • Grind and adjust valves; rebuild carburetors; overhaul transmissions and repair fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.

  • Perform routine maintenance on aviation ground support vehicles, equipment and parts, and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

  • Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.

  • Position requires a U.S. Department of State Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT).

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Have completed an apprenticeship and/or formal training as a Ground Vehicle Mechanic or Automotive Maintenance Technician.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Vehicle Mechanic.

PREFERRED

Prior Department of State INL support experience
